Vulnerability and Girlhood

Marija Timofejeva (2005) is a painter from Riga, Latvia. Currently in her first year at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Painting. In her art, she sheds light on personal, vulnerable stories of the women around her as well as her own. Her work invites viewers into quiet, reflective spaces that reveal intimate emotional narratives and moments of honesty.

In March 2025, she held her first solo exhibition, 'Her Point of View', at Hyper Creative Center. That same month, she presented a duo exhibition titled 'Girlhood' with Gireta Bramane at the Rainis and Aspazija Summer House Museum. Throughout 2025, Marija participated in multiple local exhibitions and gained her first experience as a curator with the exhibition 'Freedom' at Kaņepes Kultūras Centrs, organized in collaboration with the Neons LGBT+ movement.

In addition to her visual art, Marija has been the lead singer and guitarist of the band Luminance for four years. The band released their debut album in 2024.
